Life and stuff

So here's a little update about what I'm up to at the moment.
  • I finished my exams over a week ago and have been off uni since my last one on the 12th.
  • I got my results yesterday....

I PASSED!!!!

I am so happy and relieved about this as I really thought I'd failed. I didn't do as well as I had wanted on one section of it but I did pretty good on the other part. :) <<<>

So last night my mum and dad took me out for dinner at the local-ish Italian, which was lovely. I love Italian food. Pizza and pasta are my friends who are welcome in my stomach any time. :)

I go back to uni this coming Tuesday for 4weeks as our academic year is longer than a lot of courses. However, can't complain too much as my dad is currently booking a nice family holiday for us. :)

I hope everyone's exams and revision is going ok. Its a horrible time of year I think when everyone is stressed about exams.

love you all my wonderful followers. :)

Dove Love

Hello my lovely followers!

This post is going to be a review of the Dove Summer Glow Body Lotion. :) I purchased this almost two weeks ago now and having been using it twice a day. Once after my shower in the morning and again after my shower at night. It does say apply daily so the two applications may not really be necessary but I was very impatient when I first started using this. lol I have been using this product for over a week and I would definitely say that you have to use it for a week so see results.

So what do I like about it:

  1. The colour. I am now a lovely colour. I think the colour looks very natural on me - I'm not yellow or orange but a nice slightly browned/tanned colour.
  2. Even finish. Its not streaky and for the most part the colour is very even. (However more on this below)
  3. Ease of application. You just slap it on and rub it in. This attitude I like a lot. I found the St. Tropez products quite a lot of hassle. Additionally, I don't have to wash my hands after - I can be really lazy and the fact that I don't need to worry about scrubbing stuff off my hands before I go to bed appeals immensely.
  4. Price. I like that it doesn't cost me over a fiver. I felt very bad about paying £20 for a product to essentially paint myself brown with. £3-£4 on this moisturiser I can live with. :)
  5. Moisturising. It really is a great moisturiser. I always used to be too lazy to regularly apply body moisturiser but with the incentive of looking tanned I now apply this religiously and my skin is lovely a smooth and soft. :)

What am I not that keen on:

  1. NOTHING!

I am hence experiencing a lot of dove love, love for the dove etc at the moment. :)

Some extra info:

  • The smell is fine. Its not so amazing that I feel the need to rave about it but equally it doesn't smell awful. Question: does it smell like fake tan? Answer: only if you stick your nose right up against your skin and sniff. The chances of that happening often are slim. Please note I only did that for experimental purposes, its not a hobby. :P
  • I have once or twice been a bit lazy and not applied this at night after my shower and found that my upper arms get a bit patchy. However, I think this is something to do with the fact that I used to have dry skin there and eczema when I was younger.
  • I am using the fair to medium

I was quite doubtful about this product at first as I tried the Johnson &Johnson version (Holiday sun?) years ago and hated it. But this has changed my opinion completely of gradual moisturising tanners. Loving it. :)

Thanks for reading. xxx

p.s I'm still using the Dove face version of this - review will come in a week or so.

Shopping spree (to make me smile in an otherwise useless day.)

Well today was a total disappointment. I hate it when you try go get odds and ends done but everything seems to act against you. Today was such a day.

However, (and thats quite a big however by the way) I decided to cheer myself up and turn the day into a sort of success by doing some shopping. My logic behind this was that I'd come all the way into town so I might as well - I don't take much convincing. :)

I spent more than I was meant to so I am feeling quite guilty as I type this.....

So this is Prescriptives All Skins Mineral Makeup (Level 3 Warm Medium) and set me back £24. I have been hankering after this ever since I read about it in Hele's blog. I was so desperate to get it today that I returned to the counter later on in the day as on my first visit the lady was at her lunch. (Question: why was there only one member of staff at the counter???) Anyway, she took all my make-up off (without asking me btw) and proceeded to colour match me. She then applied the foundation with no moisturiser or anything and did not finish it off with a blusher etc. Not that impressed by the customer service tbh but she was nice enough. _end of rant_

Full review on this to follow

Sitting happily next to the box is the Prescriptives Round Buffer Brush which again set me back £24. I wasn't planning on buying this but I decided it was the right thing to do as I have only got cheap kabuki brushes which came with the Maybelling mineral foundation.

Here are some close ups of those products.

Two quick comments about the packaging/design:

1. That lid is going to get so marked and scratched. Its MEGA shiny.

2. The finish of the brush handle is cheap but the price wasn't.

Moving on...

This is Dove's Summer Glow Daily Face Moisturiser. Its the little sister of my Dove Summer Glow Body Moisturiser. :) It was £5.87 from Boots. I bought this after the recent successes of the body version (more on this later). Only thing I'm suspicious about with this is the oil factor. However, we shall wait and see.

I got this belt randomly while sauntering about Frasers. Its from Miss Selfridge and was only £5! (and with my student card it was actually £4.50!) BARGIN. Its real leather which is really what made me buy it. Its quite plain but I think this will make it versatile and suitable for a range of jeans, shorts, denim skirts etc. I don't have a tan belt either so this is good. I am aware that it wasn't essential but I think it was a good buy/investment. (Clearly feeling very guilty about all this expenditure.)

I also got some socks from Marks and Spencer but they are boring and you don't need to see them. :) I also got a sample of Double Wear foundation from Estee Lauder so maybe more on that at some point.

Thanks for reading. Any comments helping to justify purchases are very welcome. lol :)

Hope you're having/had a nice day. Today was sunny. Yey. :)

HELP please! :)

Hello my happy blogger friends. :)

I need some help, advice and suggestions.

I'm in the market for a new foundation. I am constantly searching for my HG foundation, however, at the present moment in time things have reached crisis levels. I don't have a foundation which matches my now tanned skin (fake btw more on that later) and the foundation which comes closest is almost empty.

Only problem is I'm at a bit of a loss as to what brand to try next. My possible thoughts are:
  • Prescriptives "All skins powder" £22
  • Prescriptives Liquid "Virtual Matte Oil-Control" £22
  • Laura Mercier "Oil free foundation" (liquid) £34.26

The other option is of course to go for some drugstore brand. I recently tried Revlon Colourstay but go the wrong colour. I've got an awkward skin tone. :( lol

I'd love to hear if anyone has tried any of these foundations or if anyone has any recommendations. I have combination to oily skin which is prone to blemishes and spots. I know foundation is a tricky very individual thing but I'd love some advice.

Thank you!

Clothes haul part 2

Here's what I got on wednesday. I treated myself to a day at the shops after my exams. I hadn't been proper clothes shopping in ages. I was a bit disappointed to be honest. Still here's a break down for you. ;-)

Summer dress from new look. I think this retailed at £15 - I got it for a bit less with my student discount.
Everything below is from Primark. :)
Pale blue skinny fit jeans. These were £8. I suddenly decided that I wanted a pair of pale blue skinnys. I tried a few in other shops but had fit issues and some were very stretchy which I dislike. I've got a pair of these is grey as well so I knew they washed ok and maintained their shape.

Blue and white striped summer dress. This was £8. It has a drawstring thingy at the back so that you can make it slimmer fitting at the waist. I didn't notice that till I got home. Personally I quite like it baggy.
Beige linen trousers. £8. I got a pair of these last night in white and I love them. Decided to get a beige pair as sometimes I feel that white is a bit much in this country and is quite dangerous to wear in the city i.e they are likely to get filthy. These look exactly the same as last years - if something sells don't change it must have been their thinking here. lol

Pink and white striped cotton shirt. £10. I love this. The belt is naff and will not be getting worn instead I have worn it with (I will continue to wear it with) a white leather belt. I wore this shirt with the blue skinnys and it looked nice. :)

Short sleeved, beige and white striped blazer. £13. I love this too. Ever since I saw a picture of lollipop26 wearing a balzer ages ago I knew I had to get one too. I did want a long sleeved one however I saw this and thought it was cute. Its got a lovely bow at the back and fits me really well. I can't wait to wear it. :)
Thats all for the moment. For the beady eyed among you, you would have spotted some beauty products in that very first picture. I'll get to them soon - I promise. I think this post is a bit picture heavy as it is. lol
Thanks for reading.

Clothes haul part 1

I promised to blog about my clothes haul the other day so .....ta-da! Its all from H&M.

The minute I saw this on Phoebe's blog I knew I had to go and see if my local branch had them. I could only find the white one (I'm obsessed with purple) but I still love it. This was £7.99.

Next we have a PURPLE (see what I mean lol) top with some kinda cat/jaegar thing. I thought about wearing this with black skinnys or hotpants for going out in. Again £7.99.
And finally, this dress which I'm afraid to say has now gone back. (It was £19.99 if anyone is interested) I didn't try anything on in store as I couldn't be bothered, I was too hot and the bf would have got impatient. lol So when I tried it on at home it was much longer than I thought and didn't suit me at all. I love the print which you can see in the detailed picture below but I just didn't look right on me. I really like all the floral prints that are in the shops at the moment but I think I'm going to have to be careful which ones I choose.

Strangely enough the bf predicted that this wouldn't suit me. *huff* lol

Suddenly remember that I also got these pumps from new look. They were £20 but at the moment they are giving a 20% student discount! Which is pretty awesome so I got them for £16. :D They are flat, white and leather with rubber soles. I used to have a pair exactly like this from Topshop years ago and I wore them to death. I've never been able to find a pair which were quite the same until now. :) My mum spotted them actually so well done to her. You can also get them in black and according to my mum pink and another colour which she can't quite remember. Bless. lol.

So this is part 1 of my clothes haul which was on tuesday. I went shopping again on wednesday so part 2 will feature the damage I did then.

Thanks for reading! :)

YEY I'm back! HAUL TIME

IM BACK!!!

Yey! I'm excited - even if your not. lol And what better way to make a come back than a haul.
So this morning I had my last exam of the year (until the resits. lol) and hence I went on a wee shopping trip. Admittedly it was quite rushed and not that long because a) I had heavy books with me b)the bf showed up who isnt a huge fan of shopping and c) neither of us had had any lunch.

Nonetheless I got some goodies to show you. :) I'll post all the cosmetic item thingys in this post and the clothes ones in another post.

Ok so I got these two items from boots. We have:

1. Dr Nick Lowe Serum Control Cleanser. This was £9.73 for 200ml. I got this after reading Hele 's post about reducing the skincare products she uses. She said she was going to stick to a cleanser in this range so not sure if its this exact one. However, this sounds great for my skin type and I was totally suckered in by all the nice descriptive stuff on the box. lol Review on this to follow once I've given it a fair trial.

2. Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula. This was £2.89 in bodycare for 250ml. I've never tried this before but I've heard its a classic and does what it says on the "tin" etc. So hopefully it will be good. I can't get over the smell - its amazing. Smells soooo like chocolate. For some reason I wasnt really expecting this *slaps forehead*

Next....

Superdrug!

The main reason I got these two items from Superdrug was because they were all sold out in Boots. :( Nevermind. We have:

1. Dove Summer Glow. This was £4.89 for 250ml. I have purchased this after hearing great things from lollipop26. I have in the past used the Johnson&Johnson version and hated it so hopefully this will be better. I will report back! lol

2. Lash stiletto mascara. This was on offer at £5.82. I love Maybelline mascaras and first impressions are that this does make your lashes really long and separate them well. Also more on this later once I've used it more. :)

I did get something else from superdrug but I going to do a separate post on them because they are so special and I'm tired now.

The clothes haul will have to wait till tomo as I'm going to bed :) Sorryeee.

Hope you all had a lovely day. It was sunny again in Glasgow today. :D
